Track #5: Around Town Medley: Curry Pizza House, Cafe Americano, and LullaBar

A stone’s throw from UNLV is the fast casual Curry Pizza House where Italy and India come together in the form of a chicken tikka pizza. It’s a wonderful fusion that I immensely enjoyed while gazing at the giant mural there that captures the national mood right now with the words: “I asked for pizza, not your opinion.”

Vegas is a proud 24/7 town. (Image: Vegas 411)
Let’s hear it for Vegas’ many 24/7 restaurants, like Cafe Americano at Caesars Palace. These round-the-clock places actually do close occasionally when maintenance crews sweep in for a deep cleaning. On the night I was there to see “Absinthe,” the last call for dinner was at 8 PM—and, in the nick of time, I enjoyed an excellent piece of salmon in a citrus white wine sauce with white beans, chorizo, and broccolini.

Hearing the buzz about the relatively new Chinatown spot LullaBar Thai Fusion and Izakaya, I headed here after the B-52’s show at the Venetian for craft cocktails and light bites, ordering the satisfying steamed dumplings and spring rolls. The place was seriously percolating at midnight and is open everyday from 6pm-4am. A celebration for the Thai New Year was underway as folks smeared their faces with a chalky paste for an out-with-the-old symbolic cleansing.

It's easy to fall in love with Vegas while looking at the almighty Strip from Chinatown. (Image: Vegas 411)
Lullabar is located on the kind-of-hidden Schiff Dr south of Spring Mountain Rd and running from Wynn Rd to Valley View Blvd. Other establishments on Schiff Dr include the Chinese/Szechuan restaurant Chengdu Taste, Swaad Indian Cuisine, and the Las Vegas Little Theater (“For the Community By the Community”). It’s especially magical at night to gaze through the pagoda outside of LullaBar and view the Strip and the Sphere in the distance.
