Las Vegas Announces First-Ever World Kite Festival for Thanksgiving Weekend 2025

Kites From Around the World — And Yes, They’re Huge

Move over leftovers — Thanksgiving weekend in Vegas is getting a major upgrade. The first-ever Las Vegas World Kite Festival is officially set for November 28–29, 2025, and the sky over the Desert Breeze Events Center is about to get a whole lot more colorful.

This brand-new, two-day event is bringing together the artistry, culture, and pure joy of kite flying from around the world. Think giant sculptural kites, synchronized pro flying teams, hands-on activities for kids, food, music, art, and a nighttime glow that will make your camera roll very, very happy.

During the day, the festival will showcase international kite teams performing choreographed aerial routines that turn the sky into a moving canvas. Expect:

• Massive character kites

• High-flying team formations

• Sculptural creations that look like they belong in an art museum

Families can dive into the fun with a Kids’ Zone packed with kite-making workshops, interactive demos, and educational sessions explaining how these beauties actually stay up there. (Hint: it’s cooler than you think.)

Plus: live music, local food trucks, artisan booths, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the desert breeze.

When the Sun Goes Down, the Sky Lights Up

Once evening hits, it’s time for the Night Glow Kite Show — a seriously magical experience featuring illuminated kites, glowing displays, and the star of the night: a massive 100-meter lighted dragon kite designed specifically for nighttime visibility. It’s part art show, part aerial ballet, and fully Instagram gold.

Theme of the Year: “Love Takes Flight”

Inspired by Las Vegas' reputation as one of the world’s biggest wedding capitals, the festival’s theme emphasizes connection, joy, and shared experience. Expect heart-themed installations, charming photo ops, and touches of romance woven through the event.
